Thailand To Launch English Speaking Year 2012

BANGKOK, December 24 (TNA) - The Thai Education Ministry will launch the “English Speaking Year 2012” to make Thai students adept in the international language. Education Minister Woravat Auapinyakul said on Saturday that under the initiative, activities to promote more English language communications among Thai students will be organised for the entire 2012, including at least one-day per week for "speaking English-only" days. The minister acknowledged that the plan is in response to the fact that English is considered increasingly important towards more access to global knowledge and technologies among the younger generations, as part of Thailand's preparations for the establishment of the ASEAN Single Community by 2015.
