Official in Croatian embassy announces intention to open consulates in Basra, Erbil, and Najaf


Najaf (NINA) – Economy Affairs advisor in the Croatian embassy in Baghdad, Jasim Mohammed Dhahir announced his country’s desire to open 3 consulates in Erbil, Basra, and Najaf to expand economic cooperation horizons between the countries.

In a press conference held with the Najaf Governor, Adnan Al Zurfi, Dhahir said his visit to Najaf and meeting with officials took place as a response to the desire of the Croatian people and government to open cooperation horizons and enhance them with Iraq in all domains.

Dhahir explained that he discussed with the Najaf governor possibilities of Croatia’s contribution to give technical experience to the province through receiving Iraqi scientific delegations and train them in different domains including agriculture, industry, health, and manufacturing as well as possibilities of Croatian companies’ participation in projects implemented by the governorate.

For his part, Al Zurfi pointed out that Najaf agreed with the Croatian side to receive a technical delegation to discuss possibilities of the Croatian companies’ participation in investment in housing sector and alternative energy as well as the infrastructure projects.
