Nuseif: the Kuwaiti violations will not stop unless the Iraqi government contests UN resolution 833

Baghdad (NINA) – MP from the White Iraqiya Slate, Aliya Nuseif, demanded the government to “adopt firm procedures to stop the Kuwaiti violations against the Iraqi fishermen,” calling for contesting the UN resolution 833 about the demarcation of the joint borders.

In a statement issued by her office, Nuseif declared that “a Kuwaiti patrol’s attacking 12 Iraqi fishermen inside our territorial water and abducting them is a flagrant violation of all international norms and a clear violation of the Iraqi sovereignty, we hold the Kuwaiti authorities full responsibility of the fishermen’s safety and demand the Kuwaitis to apologize to the fishermen and the Iraqi government.”

She went on saying “opening a new page basing on the good neighborly relations is the last thing that the Kuwaiti government would think about, the recent attacks against the fishermen unveiled the true face of the Kuwaiti authorities and their intentions towards Iraq.”

She concluded “the Kuwaiti attacks would not stop unless the Iraqi government contests the unjust UN resolution 833 regarding demarcation of joint borders which the former regime had to accept when it lost the war.”
