Qatar, Switzerland with Record-Victories

Mar del Plata, Argentina, August 11 (QNA) - Qatar launched out this 4th Men s Youth WCh in Argentina with a victory over New Zealand. With an enormous final score of 53:14 New Zealand was not a real counterpart for the Qatari youngsters.
Also Switzerland had a perfect start into the tournament. The youngsters from the Alps destroyed, with their clear 44:24 victory, the hopes of Gabon for a better result.
The first draw on the first match day was, after a real "crime tango", the 27:27 between Serbia and Slovenia.
Even before the official opening took place, in the hall "Once Unidos Club" France and Brazil played the first match of the Championship. The game was exciting until the final whistle. Eleven seconds before the end of the match the French team scored the last goal and won by 32:31.
More than 7,000 spectators followed after the opening ceremony the first match in the main hall between the host Argentina and Chile. After a spectacular second half the host dominated, so that the final result was clear by 30:22.
Germany won against Korea 40:30. Even though the final result showed a difference of 10 goals for Germany, competing with Korea had been a hard battle for the team of head coach Christian Schwarzer. In the first half the Koreans performed with their strongest weapon, playing, as they are known for, an extremely fast handball. Consequently the speediest from Korea went into halftime break leading 17:16. Keeping the speed 40 minutes long was enough for the Koreans, so they started to lack in power. Germany took that advantage and decided in the end the match.
The match between the young Russians and Tunisians was only during the first half open. After a 14:14 half time result the Russian team dominated the second period and won 28:26.
In the last match of the first day Sweden got into big trouble. The youngsters from Scandinavia faced a lot of problems with the aggressive defence of the Bahraini team. Hence the match didn t reach a clear result and ended up in draw (27:27), which was indeed a big surprise and a great fact for the youngsters from Bahrain. Calculating the points of Group A, we now find four teams with each on their account.
On the second match day, 11 August it s Croatia s, Egypt s, Denmark s and Spain s turn to play their first matches of the tournament. (QNA)
