Commissioner Peshawar express dissatisfaction over price control team in Peshawar

(PPI) - A meeting regarding price control in Peshawar Division was held in the office of Commissioner Peshawar on Wednesday. DCOs, DPOs, Magistrates and all other relevant officers of districts of Peshawar, Charsadda and Nowshera attended.

The chair welcomed the participants and briefly spoke on price control strategy. District-wise performance of Price Magistrates in the division was highlighted and the chair showed his concern over the poor performance of some of the magistrates as the same could not be improved even after bringing the same into the notice of the DCOs concerned.

Performance of each and every magistrate was discussed. Performance of DO (R&E) Peshawar was found poor. The chair asked the participants that Peshawar is considered as a model to be followed by others therefore highest attention be paid by the Magistrates working in Peshawar.

The chair stressed upon the participants to be more vigilant in the ensuing month of Ramazan and routine of daily bazaar checking twice a day should be continued to ensure control of the prices of essential commodities in the division.

It was brought to the notice of the chair that police cooperation is needed to enhance effectiveness in the performance of price checking.

The DCOs informed that as per direction of this office, price review committee meetings have been held in all the three districts where prices of essential commodities have been fixed.

After lengthy discussion, certain decisions were taken which include that DCOs shall hold monthly police magistracy meetings for close coordination so that performance of Special Magistrates is made more result oriented.

Regular price review committee meetings shall be held in each district so that the prices of essential commodities are updated. Similarly, the billboards already installed shall be checked, changed and updated while price lists, be displayed thereon.

Reconciled statements of the fines deposited in the government treasury shall be submitted, on monthly basis regularly. Moreover, the procedure for the conviction of the accused shall be properly adopted and a register shall be maintained in the office of every magistrate wherein detail of the cases are entered and kept for record and the DCOs should establish Control Room in their offices so as complaints with regard to prices of essential commodities are received and attended to properly.

On this occasion, the Capital City Police Officer, Peshawar was asked to direct the local police to extend full assistance to the DCOs/Special Magistrates in bazaar checking.
