NA first plenary comes to an end

STATE PRESIDENT CHOUMMALY SAYASONE DELIVERED A SPEECH URGING THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY TO MATERIALIZE THE RESOLUTION OF THE 9TH PARTY CONGRESS IN LEGISLATIVE SECTOR

VIENTIANE,JUN. (KPL)- The first plenary session of the National Assembly (seventh legislature) last Friday came to an end with a number of achievements.
The achievements learned during the last two weeks of the meeting also include the successful general election to the National Assembly and the approval of the organizational structure of the National Assembly and the election of President and Vice-President, Prime Minister, President of the People’s Supreme Court, President of the Public Prosecutor Organisation as well as the approval of the National Socio Economic Development Plan for the next five years and the state budget plan for 2011-2012, the National Assembly plan on law making and amending for the next five years, the election of the standing commission of the National Assembly and the presence at the first plenary session of the National Assembly by Vietnamese Party General Secretary and Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong.
The meeting also approved an amended law on tax to ensure the taxation in the country is in line with the current demand of the socio-economic development and the national integration into the regional economy and stabilize the revenue collection system.
State President Choummaly Sayasone delivered his speech at the meeting urging the National Assembly’s Seventh Legislature to ensure better quality of making and amending of laws as well as regulations in line with the four breakthroughs as approved at the ninth Party Congress.
“What important for the law making is the ensuring of that the law making is in line with the current condition of the country and the policy direction of the Party and integrates into international community. The National Assembly has to enhance its efforts in inspecting and evaluating the law enforcement in the society to learn its weakness and strength and find solutions to the weakness,” said President Choummaly Sayasone.
He also urged the National Assembly members to focus their attention on the inspection and monitoring the national and provincial projects and the law enforcement in budgetary area to ensure every tax is spent on the national development to reduce the poverty and bring about the benefit for all Lao people.
