WAPDA employees stage protest
ccusing government of adopting anti-labour policies under the pressures of IMF and World Bank, hundreds of WAPDA employees staged a sit-in here Wednesday in front of the press club and blocked Mirpurkhas road to record their protest.
The protestors showed surprise over government’s laid back approach regarding Thar coal reserves which according to them can produce 50,000 megawatts electricity; well in excess of the required 20,000 megawatts.
The protestors Sher Nizamani, Azmat Pathan and others rallied from WAPDA’s office to the Press Club and raised voices against government’s policies with regards to labourers’ rights.
