Vietnamese Party Secretary visits Laos
VIENTIANE,JUN.(KPL)- General Secretary of the Vietnamese Communist Party Nguyen Phu Trong and his wife arrived in Vientiane Capital yesterday kicking off his three-day goodwill visit to enhance the special relations and all-round cooperation between the Lao PDR and Vietnam.
An official welcome for Mr. Nguyen Phu Trong and his wife was held at the Presidential Office by Party General Secretary and State President Choummaly Sayasone.
Prior to the official welcome ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Phu Trong and his wife were greeted at the Wattay International Airport by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Thongloun Sisoulith, Lao ambassador to Vietnam Sounthone Sayachack and Vietnamese ambassador to the Lao DPR Ta Minh Chau.
Mr. Nguyen Phu Trong led Vietnamese high-ranking officials in holding bilateral meeting with the Lao delegation led by Party Secretary and State President Choummaly Sayasone at the Party Central Committee Office to discuss the cooperation between the two parties of Laos and Vietnam.
On the same day, President of the National Assembly Pany Yathortou, Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong, VicePresident of Lao Front for National Construction Tong Yeuthor and President of the Lao-Vietnamese Friendship Association Phankham Viphavanh respectively paid courtesy visits to Mr. Nguyen Phu Trong.
Mr. Nguyen Phu Trong will attend and give a speech at the ongoing first plenary session of the National Assembly 7th legislature and visit the Unknown Soldiers Monument and called on the families of former President Khamtay Siphandone, late President Kaysone Phomvihane, late President Nouhak Phoumsavanh, and the Souphanouvong Memorial.
During his visit in Laos, Mr. Nguyen Phu Trong and his wife will visit Savannakhet province where he will receive a courtesy call from Savannakhet Governor Souphanh Keomisay and visit the Vietnamese Language Centre and the monument and memorial of late President Kaysone Phomvihane.
