Phone connections of govt. offices in Larkana go out of order

Ratodero, June 16, 2011 (PPI): All telephone connections of government departments/offices of District Larkana went out of order early Thursday morning.

As the government offices opened in the morning, the staffers found out that none of the landline telephones was workable. It is pertinent to mention that National Telecommunication Corporation provides telephone numbers only to government departments/offices after the privatization of PTCL.

Due to the failure of telephone network, officials were left with no choice but to use their personal cellular phones which hampered usual proceedings.

Sources informed that over 1500 government phones in the district went out of order at a time. No staff member of the NTC telephone exchange was available to comment on the issue.

Furthermore sources informed this is the third such instance in a month when the telephone network crashed. Police and health departments were the worst sufferers in this chaotic scenario, they added.
