Laos, Singapore agree on flight reopening

VIENTIANE.JUNE.(KPL)- Foreign Minister Thongloun Sisoulith have agreed with his Singaporean counterpart K Shanmugam to have relevant officials in Laos and Singapore to study into the reopening of flights between the two countries as the number of Singaporean tourists visiting Laos is increasing.
Mr. Thongloun met his Singaporean counterpart in Budapest, Hungary where the 10 Asia-Europe Meeting ASEM was held on June 6-7.
Mr. Thongloun appreciated the foreign minister of Singapore for his appointment to the post and expected the good cooperation with him to enhance the relation and cooperation between the two countries.
Mr. Thongloun told his counterpart that the Lao government highly valued the assistance of Singapore for the socio-economic development in Laos, especially in human resource development.
Both sides shared point of views on the cooperation under the ASEAN framework especially its economic integration to achieve the establishment of ASEAN Community by 2015.
Mr. Thongloun asked his counterpart to further send Singaporean volunteers to work in development projects in Laos and the assistance for the Laos preparation for the ninth ASEM Summit.
On the same day, Mr. Thongloun met his Bulgaria counterpart Nicolai Mladenov and both sides showed their commitments to improving the longstanding friendly relations and cooperation between Laos and Bulgaria and further mutual assistance in the multilateral arena.
Both sides agreed in principles to appoint honourable consuls in their respective countries.
