Children’s Day held

VIENTIANE,JUNE.(KPL) - More than 1,200 children from schools across Vientiane Capital attended a ceremony to mark the International Children’s Day held at the Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union.
The ceremony was participated by Mr. Thongloun Sisoulith, Deputy Prime Minister and President of National Commission for Mothers and Children, Mr. Khamphanh Sitthidampha, President of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union, Dr. Vilavong Boudhakum, Deputy Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union, Mr. Mahboob Ahmed Bajwa, UNICEF Representative, Ms. Sisai Leudethmounsone, President of the Lao Women Union, Ms. Sengdeuane Lachanthaboune, Deputy Minister of Education, parents and relevant officials.
“There are 309,860 Thanva “December” juveniles and 163,564 Thanva young pioneers,” said Mr. Khamphanh.
“Each year, we convene a meeting of leaders of juveniles and young pioneers to discuss various issues such as camping, health education, anti-AIDS activities and anti-human trafficking and child labour activities, study tour, environmental protection, sports, arts performance, tale narrating, painting and games,” said Mr. Khamphanh.
On the same day, Mr. Thongloun Sisoulith and other senior officials of the Lao Youth Union administered vitamin A dropping for the children who were present at the event.
