Yemen, IFC in talks over promoting partnership between public and

SANA'A, Sep 08 (Saba) - Minister of Public Works and High Roads Omer
al-Kurshmi met on Monday with the International Finance Corporation
IFC director of the department of consultative services of
infrastructure of Middle East and North Africa Muneer Fairuzi.

The meeting discussed ways to promote the partnership between the
public and private sectors as well as promoting the role of the
private sector in road investments.

The meeting also brought up aspects of cooperation between the
ministry and the IFC in studying the infrastructure of the road
projects in the country.

Al-Kurshmi said the ministry gives priority to the partnership with
the private sector, affirming it will work in the future to consider
proposals put forward by the IFC and those linked to implementing a
study on enhancing the partnership with the private sector. The
study would be conducted by the IFC in collaboration with the
ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, he said.

For his part, Fairuzi praised the good response of the ministry of
Public works and High Roads to develop the partnership between the
public and private sectors.

He said the strides the ministry has taken in this regard prove the
ministry intentions to make real progress in this field which is
considered vital to achieve a comprehensive development in the
country.

Fairuzi added the IFC will continue to support the ministry to study
the infrastructure of the road projects and provide necessary
information that will help strengthen the partnership between the
two sectors.
