GOF SEIZES RM125,000 WORTH OF FIREWORKS

RANTAU PANJANG (Malaysia), Sept 8 (Bernama) -- Fireworks worth about
RM125,000 believed to have been smuggled from Thailand were seized in two raids Sunday by a battalion of the General Operations Force (GOF).

Battalion commander, Supt Rooslan Radzi, said in the first raid at 3.30pm GOF personnel found RM114,000 worth of fireworks loaded on a lorry parked behind a house in east coast town of Pasir Mas.

He told reporters here there were no arrests as the lorry owner and house
owner were not around.

In the second raid at 8pm, he said RM10,875 worth of fireworks were seized
at an illegal jetty at a village here.

"In that raid GOF personnel came across some men loading boxes on several
vehicles. Seeing the police the men fled," Rooslan said. (US$1=RM3.38)
