NAJIB TO OPEN FELDA HOTEL IN MECCA
CHINI (Malaysia), Sept 8 (Bernama) -- Deputy Prime Minister Najib Razak will officially open a hotel apartment and foodcourt owned by the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, on Sept 20.
The deputy prime minister said the four-star hotel with 54 rooms was the first overseas hotel owned by the agency.
"The Felda-owned foodcourt managed by the catering company, D'Saji,
will
serve Malay food for pilgrims from this country.
"Felda has not only managed to venture into the local hotel industry but
also overseas," he said at the handing of contributions to 60 single mothers and
65 senior citizens at the Chini 1 mosque, here Sunday night.
Najib said with the opening of the hotel and foodcourt in Mecca, Felda
could be recognised as a multinational organisation.
He said the RM100 million hotel located only 50 metres away from the
entrance to the Masjidil Haram, would make it easier for pilgrims staying at the
hotel to perform their religious obligations.
"The hotel has been operating since early last month and is managed by
Felda Global Ventures Mecca, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Felda," he added.
