Pakistan says regional peace can't be guaranteed until Kashmir issue resolved
Muzaffarabad, May 23, 2011 (PPI): Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani says regional peace cannot be guaranteed until core issue of Kashmir was resolved.
“Unless this core issue [Kashmir issue] is resolved, dream of peace and harmony in the region cannot come true,” Gilani said Monday after inaugurating two-day international conference on Kashmir, organized by Azad Kashmir University here. He urged world’s peace loving nations to come forward in resolving Kashmir issue that has jeopardized peace efforts in the region.
He called for acknowledging Kashmiris right to self determination in accordance with UN resolutions. "Kashmiris are being subjected to mental, physical torture. No significant development could take place in South Asia unless resolution of this core issue,' he stressed.
Prime Minister favoured continuing the dialogue process between Pakistan and India for resolving core issue of Kashmir.
