NAFRI discuss new agro-strategic draft
VIENTIANE,MAY.(KPL) - National Agriculture and Forestry Research Institute (NAFRI) discussed a national draft on agriculture development strategic till 2020 to achieve four-breakthrough resolution of the 9th Party Congress, in Vientiane Capital, last Friday.
“The four breakthroughs are imagination, human resources development, improving management and governance regulations and systems and poverty reduction remaining only 10 per cent and MDGs by 2015, said Dr Ty Phommasack, Vice-Minister of Agriculture and Forestry.
The draft was discussed a meeting on Science and Technical Agriculture-Forestry, at the NAFRI.
The purpose of the meeting was aimed at disseminating some documents and Agro-Minister’s decrees on agriculture and forests use and allocation in districts level, Agriculture Development Strategy till 2020, management of animal clinic, business, veterinary equipments and medicines and Lao Veterinary Association.
These documents are very importance for agriculture and forestry development by focusing on serving ongoing four targets, eight programmes and 14 measures to achieve the resolution of the 9th Party Congress.
The main objective of a new draft strategy will turn agriculture production into modernized industry in plain areas, based on market’s demand and development of small farming, protection of ecological system in upland areas, food security and improvement of living conditions of communities in rural areas.
The agriculture and forestry is a main sector contributing to poverty reduction in remote corners.
