Draft development strategic plan for special and specific economic zone discussed
VIENTIANE,APRIL 22.(KPL) - The National Management Committee for Special and Specific Economic Zone (NMCSSZ) discussed a draft development strategic plan of special and specific economic zone for 2011-2020, at an ordinary meeting, in Vientiane Capital, last Friday.
The meeting was chaired by Standing Deputy Prime Minister Somsavad Lengsavat who is also the Chairman of NMCSSZ.
Mr. Somsavad said that this meeting would discuss the determination of responsibilities and working mechanism of the NMCSSZ and approving some detailed proposals in association with the special and specific economic zone.
The NMCSSZ have discussed solving other challenges on the land for development special and specific economic zone nationwide and determining a draft responsibilities and working mechanism of the NMCSSZ.
They have also sought for addressing the implementation and works of Savanh-Seno special economic zone.
The meeting has also considered improving Dansavanh trade border, Lao-Viet border checkpoint in Savannakhet province to be a special economic zone.
The establishment of Donkhong and Khonphapheng islands in Champassak province as a tourism town has also been raised at the meeting, which is expected to be approved.
Thakhek-Danekham Specific Economic Zone at the end of third Lao-Thai Mekong Friendship Bridge in Khammouane province has also been approved.
