Laos, Egypt enhance ties
VIENTIANE,APRIL 20. KPL) - Deputy Foreign Minister Hiem Phommachanh met his Egyptian counterpart Mohamed Higazy, the latter is on his two-day visit to the Lao PDR on April 20-21.
Mr. Mohamed aimed his two-day official visit to the Lao PDR at enhancing the cooperation and relations between the two counties in areas of politics, economy and trade.
At yesterday’s talks, both sides exchanged points of view on several issues of both bilateral and multilateral cooperation frameworks and highly valued the relations and cooperation on politics, diplomacy and mutual assistance of the two countries at regional and international arenas.
The Lao Deputy Foreign Minister Hiem told the visiting guest that the Lao government and people were grateful for the assistance of the Egyptian government for the human resource development of the Lao PDR by helping the Lao nationals gain an access to training in various areas in Egypt.
He asked the Egyptian government to further provide assistance in human resource development and other areas according to its potentials and encourage the Egyptian business community to invest in the Lao PDR. Both sides shared common interests that the exchange visit by officials at various levels between the two countries was fundamental for the enhancement of mutual relations and cooperation in the future.
They also informed each other of internal affairs in their respective countries and shared common interest on issues in region and international arenas. On the same day, the Egyptian Deputy Foreign Minister paid a courtesy visit to Lao Foreign Minister Thongloun Sisoulith and presented the latter a message of congratulation sent by Head of the Egyptian Armed Forces Supreme Council, Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi to President Choummaly Sayasone.
