French Red Cross helps flood victims in Khammouane
VIENTIANE,APRIL 19.(KPL) - An agreement on implementation of a relief aid programme for flood victims in Boualapha district, Khammouane province, was signed here last Friday between Head Office of the Lao Red Cross, Mr. Khonesavanh Chanthakham, and Deputy Head of Zone for Asia of the French Red Cross, Mrs. Marjolaine Doerr-Will.
Witnessing the signing event were President of Lao Red Cross, Dr. Snivourast SRAMANY, Vice-District Chief of Boualapha, Mr. Khanthalangsy Sayalath and relevant officials.
The programme will be implemented in nine villagers with a grant of EUR 199,950 (approx 1.6 b kip) from EU through the French Red Cross. The programme is the provision of 165 tonnes of milled rice for 4,100 families suffering from flood in last October. The beneficiaries will be also provided 45 tonnes of rice seeds to ensure their rice cultivation.
Prior to the signing, the French Red Cross in cooperation with Khammouane Provincial Red Cross provided relief aid package amounting to 39 million kip to the victims.
