New WHO representative presents credential to Laos
VIENTIANE,APRIL 19.(KPL) - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Hiem Phommachanh has received a credentials presentation of Dr. Liu Yunguo, a new country representative of the World Health Organisation (WHO) to the Lao PDR.
The presentation was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 18 April.
Mr. Hiem has expressed a warm welcome and praised Dr. Yunguo who was appointed a new country representative of the WHO to Laos.
He has also expressed thank to the WHO for cooperation and assistance to Laos, so far. This saw a great contribution to improve the living conditions of Lao people, especially public health sector and reduction of mothers and children mortality rate.
The WHO has also helped combating the outbreak of HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis.
The WHO has also provided technical term on public health sector to Laos, Mr Hiem continued.
Dr. Yunguo has expressed thank to Mr. Hiem for his warm welcome and pledged to cooperate full cooperation with the Lao government in the framework of cooperation plan in the future between WHO and the Lao government.
