Laos, Vietnam friendship school takes shape
VIENTIANE,18 APRIL. (KPL) - The construction of Vientiane-Ho Cho Minh friendship school, Sikhottabong upper secondary school, a symbol of special solidarity between Laos and Vietnam was kicked off last Friday.
The new four-storey building comprises 26 classrooms will be built replacing the old building under the grant aid of Ho Chi Minh City, amounting to US$5 million.
The Sikhottabong upper secondary school, located in the heart of Vientiane Capital, Sikhottabong district will be a symbol of special solidarity between Vientiane Capital and Ho Chi Minh City.
The construction works range from drainage system, a football field, a parking area, a gate and fence, a full set of electricity to water tap
system.
The Chichareune Construction Company, a contractor will complete the construction of new building school for 18 months.
A groundbreaking ceremony for construction of new building last week drew high-ranking officials of both sides.
Cutting the ribbon to launch the construction were Vientiane Mayor Sombath Yialiher and Politburo member of Vietnam’s Communist Party and Party Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Mr. Le Thanh Hai and Vietnam Ambassador to Laos, Mr. Ta Minh Chau in the presence of distinguished guests.
Vientiane Mayor Sombath has expressed thanks to Mr Le and people of Ho Chi Minh City for assistance in the construction and improvement of Vientiane-Ho Chi Minh school, which will be a centre for human resource development.
“The human resource development is one out of four breakthroughs that just approved at the 9th Party Congress resolution,” Vientiane Mayor Sombath said.
