Lao delegation attends Special ASEAN-Japan Ministerial Meeting
VIENTIANE,18 APRIL. (KPL) - A high ranking delegation of Laos led by Mr. Phongsavad Boupha on 9 April attended the Special ASEAN – Japan Ministerial Meeting held in the ASEAN Secretariat to respond strong earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan on March 11 and other natural disasters in Southeast Asia recently.
The meeting aimed to seek cooperation between Japan and ASEAN to address natural disasters and it also demonstrated solidarity between Japan and ASEAN in addressing disaster issue.
At the meeting, Japan has confirmed its commitment to further co-operation with ASEAN in the field of their co-operated projects while ASEAN also reaffirmed its commitment to cooperate with Japan to strengthen the bilateral relations between the two sides.
Mr. Phongsavad Boupha has a bilateral meeting with Japanese Foreign Minister Takeaki Matsumoto who expressed thanks to the Lao Government for aid relief offered to Japanese people. He also pledged to provide ODA to the Lao government for implementing the Laos-Japan co-operation projects.
