Zebari, Czech counterpart discuss bilateral relations

Baghdad (NINA) – Foreign Minister and Czech's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Karel Schwarzenberg, discussed bilateral relations and means to consolidate them in the fields of trade, defence and culture.

A statement issued on Tuesday, Apr. 18, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, "Zebari met in Prague with his Czech counterpart discussing Iraq's domestic situation and the on going preparations for the up coming Arab Summit to be held in Baghdad, they also exchanged view over developments in the Arab region and the importance to respect human rights and to consolidate democracy."

Zebari discussed also preparations for the up coming visit of the Czech's Prime Minister and the ministers of Defence and Trade to Baghdad.

Afterward, the two held a joint press conference during which they talked of the meeting's outcome asserting to develop Iraq-Czech relations and the importance to exchange visits between both countries' officials.

Earlier in the day, Zebari arrived in Prague on a two-day official visit to the Czech Republic as part of a European tour; he is accompanied by a number of the Ministry's officials.
