Ministries of Agriculture, Environment discuss use of new technologies to fight desertification
Baghdad (NINA) – Technical Agriculture Ministry Undersecretary, Mahdi Dhamad Al Qaisi, discussed with a specialized delegation from the Ministry of Environment means of handling the desertification phenomenon and soil erosion.
A statement issued by Ministry of Agriculture said “the Undersecretary discussed with the delegation best means to fight desertification, including the use of non-harming of environment material derived from vegetarian stuff that can hold the soil, eventually prevent soil erosion in addition to help in soil moisture to contribute in plants grow, especially in dry lands.”
It added that “both sides agreed on carrying out experiments on limited areas in Karbala, after reaching agreement with the local government.”
The statement concluded that “this agreement will help the Ministry of Agriculture to see how effective this technology is in the field, later, the authorized commission will decide the feasibility of using this method.”
