Management of agro-produce export discussed
Vientiane,april 8.(KPL)- The Agriculture and Forestry Service of Vientiane last Thursday held a seminar on the production of agricultural products for export at the International Cooperation and Training Centre in Vientiane Capital.
Presided over by Vice-Mayor of Vientiane Capital, Mr. Anouphab Tounalom, the seminar is aimed at disseminating policy and regulations on the import and export of agricultural products and providing opportunities to farmers and business units to exchange lessons and viewpoints on trade in agricultural products.
Last year, annual per capita rice yield in Vientiane was estimated at 416 kg, that of animal meat was 50 kg and vegetable 69 kg, according to Deputy Head of the Vientiane Agriculture and Forestry Service, Mr. Chantha Thipphavongphanh.
In 2009-2010 fiscal year, the export of vegetable amounted to 117 tonnes, bringing in around 600 million kip for Vientiane Capital. The production of industrial crop in the year amounted to 1,618 tonnes and was worth 6 billion kip.
Last year, Vientiane Capital exported 446 tonnes of rice, totally worth over 1 billion kip, 7,125 metric tonnes of timber (3,126 billion kip), 10,932 tonnes of flour (25.6 billion kip), ten tones of non timber forest products (142 million kip), and 611 tonnes of bamboo woven products and handicraft (364 million kip).
