Small-scale hydropower dam in Saravane to kick off next year
Vientiane,april 8.(KPL)-) A small-scale hydropower dam project with capacity generation of 5 MW in Saravane province will be built next year.
The hydropower dam is located in the upper part of Houay Kaper river 1 in Phouaknoy area, Laoya and Nongchoua villages, Laongam district.
The dam will be 22 m high and 200 m long, worth US$12 million, which was invested by domestic investors.
The construction works will undertake for two years including roads construction, an office, safe water system, tunnels, powerhouse and a 22 KW substation.
The signing ceremony of dam construction was signed in Saravane province, on 5 April between Director of Vientiane Automation and Solution Engineering Company Mr. Senglaty Savankham, and Head of Saravane Planning and Investment Service, Mr. Saiyadeth Vongsaravanh and Deputy Head of Saravane Hydropower and Mining Service, Mr. Phengsy Meaungchanh.
This project is a part of electricity development plan of Saravane province, which has been put on the provincial plan.
The dam will generate electricity for domestic consumption in Saravane province.
If this project finished, it will respond to the electricity consumption in the province and a great contribution to the breakthrough on poverty reduction.
