South Korean Government pledges to grant for development in Sangthong
Vientiane,april 8.(KPL)- Vientiane Mayor Sombath Yialiher received here a courtesy visit of Mr. Yo Wusik who is in charge of the Community Development Cooperation Agency of South Korea during his pay a working visit to Laos, on 7 April.
Mr Yo who is also Mrs. Kim Jiyong’s spouse the President of Aru Agriculture and Industry Company Ltd visited to Laos for studying the grant aid projects.
His wife company “Aru Agriculture and Industry” invested in planting industrial trees on 400 ha in Sangthong district, Vientiane Capital.
The investment of this company has intended to reduce poverty in Sangthong district. So the company has mobilised fund from their homeland to help Sangthong district.
The Korean Government has agreed to provided US$1.5 million or about 12 billion kip of grant aid to three development projects in Sangthong district, Mr Yo told Mr Sombath.
The grant aid was of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of South Korea.
The grant will be used for the clean water supply, irrigation and the plantation of organic crops and livestock raising project with the aim to develop Sangthong district.
Vientiane Mayor expressed thanks to the South Korean Government for providing grant aid to the development in Sangthong district, the poorest district in Vientiane Capital.
If the project operated, Sangthong’s people will have more fixed jobs and have more income. And they will leave out of the poverty step by step.
