Philippine Foreign Minister visits Laos
VIENTIANE,APRIL 6.(KPL)- On Wednesday, Philippine Minister of Foreign Affairs Albert F.del Rosario arrived here on 6 April for short official working visit to Laos as a guest of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Thongloun Sisoulith.
The main purpose of Mr. Albert F.del Rosario’s visit to Laos is to introduce himself on the occasion of his appointment as minister of foreign affairs of the Philippines and to review and encourage the friendship relation and co-operation between Laos and the Philippines.
Lao Foreign Minister Thongloun Sisoulith talked with Philippines Foreign Minister Albert F.del Rosario at the office on the same day, confirming agreements in several fields.
At the meeting, the sides exchanged their point of view on several issues in the framework of bilateral and multilateral co-operations. They also highly valued their co-operation and assistances made in the past few years for the benefits of the two people and for peace and development.
The sides has unanimously agreed to promote the regular exchange of visit between the high ranking delegation and senior officials from their country and continue to further their co-operation in different fields including technical co-operation, human resource development, and cultural-social development.
They also agreed to encourage their relevant organization to continue to implement the existed agreements and MoU; to organize a meeting and exchange of visit between the delegation from the trade council as well as business sector from the both countries in order to create an opportunity for business co-operation for the businessmen of the two countries. They also agreed to encourage the businessmen from the Philippines to make their investment in Laos; to continue to discuss in order to prepare to attend the first Joint Co-operation Committee Meeting between Laos and the Philippines and to support each other in the regional and international stages.
On this occasion, Mr. Thongloun Sisoulith expressed thanks on behalf of the Lao government and people to the government of the Philippines for the assistance on human resource development and for their presentation of 338 books on the Philippines to the National library of Laos, Starex van to the film department, ministry of information and culture.
They also informed each other on their respective country current situations and exchanged their point of view on the common regional and international issues.
On the same day, Mr. Albert F.del Rosario also paid a courtesy to Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong, visited military museum and received a courtesy visit of the President of trade and industry chamber.
