Laos, South Korea enhance cooperation on cultural heritage conservation
VIENTIANE,MARCH,31 (KPL)-Laos and the Republic of Korea have inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on cooperation and exchange of experience in cultural heritage conservation till 2015.
The document was signed in Vientiane, on 30 March between Director General of the Heritage Department, Ministry of Information and Culture, Mr. Thongsa Sayavongkhamdy and Director General of the Heritage Promotion Bureau, Cultural Heritage Administration of Korea, Mr. Yung Keun Park in the presence of officials of both sides.
The MOU stipulates that both sides agree to cooperate on conservation of cultural heritage, renovation and management of world heritage under the frameworks of the UNESCO.
They have also agreed of research and registration of artefacts and promotion of intangible culture. And they will also survey and explore artefacts in the rivers.
The two sides also agreed to cooperate on museums, especially the cooperation between the two national museums of Luang Prabang museum in Laos and Seoul museum in the Republic of Korea.
Under the document, they will build human resources at the level of technical staff, managers and specialists in cultural heritage conservation and renovation.
They will also agree to share information and human resources development, and further explore potential cooperation measures, including joint academic research between institutes dedicated to cultural heritage.
