Germany gives EUR31 million to Laos for development purposes
VIENTIANE,MARCH 29 (KPL) - The German government has given over EUR31 million as technical and financial assistance for development projects in the Lao PDR for the 2011-2017 period.
The assistance includes EUR 11 million as financial assistance and over EUR 20 million as technical assistance.
The financial assistance will go to the development of roads in rural areas in Sayaboury and Attapeu provinces, which will be provided through the KfW Development Bank (EUR 6 million).
The technical assistance will go to the development of work plan on vocational education development and human resource development for market economy, the improvement of access to financial assistance for people in rural areas as well as the promotion of sustainable development in mining sector, land management and registration.
The agreement on the German grants was signed last week between Minister of Planning and Investment Mr. Bounthavy Sisouphanthong and German Ambassador to Laos, Dr. Peter Wienand.
