CM’s approval for creating 198 new posts in Health Dept

LAHORE (PPI) - The Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has given approval for creating 198 new posts in the Health Department for regularization of Assistant Professors, Senior Medical Officers and APMOs who were working on contract bases in the department. Whereas, the cases of Associate Professors and Professors would be sent to Punjab Service Commission for regularization.

It was stated in the Summery approved by the Chief Minister Punjab presented in the Lahore High Court by the attorney of Health Department Punjab. The case of regularization of Assistant Professors is in under-hearing in Lahore High Court of Mr. Justice Umer Atta Bandial. The Health Department took the stance that 70/80 Assistant Professors and 90 Senior Medical Officers/AMPOs who did not get regularized in 2009, are being regularized as the CM Punjab has given approval to create 198 such posts.

Moreover, the cases of 79 Associate Professors are being sent to Punjab Public Service Commission for regularization. The PPSC would hold interviews of these doctors and new candidates would not be considered for this purpose. Moreover, Health Department has constituted a Committee headed by Secretary Regulation to decide individual seniority of more than 6000 doctors who were regularized from 2009 till to date. For this purpose, guide lines have already formulated.

The Attorney of Health Department also submitted in the Court that in future 50% quota of Senior Registrars would be fixed for the promotion of Assistant professors. It would help prepare service structure of teaching cadre in the Health Department Punjab. The Honourable Court appreciated the steps taken by the Punjab Government for solving a long standing issue of regularization of senior doctors on merit, remarked that the clear standpoint of Punjab Government has revealed now if the petitioners have any objection on it, they should submit their point of view in the court. The Court adjourned the hearing of the case till 4th April, 2011.

After presenting clear cut point of view of the Punjab Government and solution for the regularization of SMOs, APMOs, Assistant Professors, and Professors; the attorneys of petitioners, Dr. Abdul Basit and Hafiz Farooq Nasim requested the Honourable Judge of Lahore High Court to withdraw their writ petitions as the issue of their clients was solved.
