Party leader receives Vietnamese Party envoy
VIENTIANE,MARCH 23 (KPL)- On 22 March, H. E Choummaly Sayasone, Secretary General of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party received at his office in Vientiane a courtesy visit of Mr. Hoang Binh Quan, a special envoy of the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Mr. Nguyen Phu Trong.
On behalf of the Vietnamese Party General Secretary and the Vietnamese Party Central Committee, Mr Hoang Binh Quan expressed congratulations on the re-election of Mr. Choummaly and on the success of the 9th Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party.
According to a press release from Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Communist Party of Vietnam values the achievements of Laos and of its people in implementing its renovation policy over the past five years.
The Vietnamese representative also expressed confidence that under the leadership of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party with Mr. Choummaly as Secretary General, Laos and its people will achieve success in implementing the resolution established by the 9th Congress of Lao People’s Revolutionary Party.
The resolution is to build a nation of peace, independence, democracy, unity and prosperity, and to achieve the goals of a prosperous people, strengthened nation, just and civilised society, and socialism.
Mr. Hoang Binh Quan expressed thanks to the Party, government and Lao people for their valuable support and assistance to Vietnam. He reaffirmed that the Party, government and brotherly Vietnamese people will work to enhance the special traditional relationship between the two countries.
Mr. Hoang also conveyed the invitation of Vietnamese Party Secretary General Nguyen Phu Trong to Party Secretary General Mr. Choummaly to visit Vietnam at an appropriate time.
Mr. Choummaly affirmed the value of the visit of the special envoy as a reflection of the enhanced special relationship between Laos and Vietnam.
He requested that Mr. Hoang convey warm greetings to his Vietnamese counterpart and accepted the invitation to visit Vietnam.
Mr. Hoang Binh Quan and his delegation also met with Mr. Thongloun Sisoulith, Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the External Relations Committee of the Party Central Committee and the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, Mr. Thongloun reported on the successes of the 9th Party Congress and discussed areas of cooperation between the two countries in implementing plans newly approved by the congress.
