Achievements of 9th Party Congress and 56th anniversary of LPRP marks

VIENTIANE,MARCH 22 .(KPL) - A rally was held at the National Cultural Hall yesterday, to mark the achievements of the 9th Party National Congress and the 56th anniversary of Lao People’s Revolutionary
Party (22/3/1955-22/3/2011).
The event was attended by Mr Choummaly Sayasone, Secretary General of Party Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP), the new LPRP Central Committee Politburo members, Secretariat of Party Central Committee, LPRP CC members and hundreds of Vientiane residents.
Speaking at the great event, Mr Sombath Yialiher, Vientiane Party Secretary General and Vientiane Mayor has recalled the great achievements of the LPRP over the past 56 years under the leadership of the LPRP of each period.
The LPRP led the Lao people nationwide in countering against aggressive imperialism taking for a long period and winning the complete victory on 2 December 1975-.
Over the past 35 years of the national development and construction, particularly the last five years of implementation of the resolution of the 8th Party Congress and the sixth five years socio-economic development plan, our country has maintained the political stability, social orderliness and the exiting growth of economy, averaging 7.9 per cent yearly.
The poverty rate decreased from 27.7 per cent in 2002-2003 to 20.4 per cent in 2009-2010. The average of rice production amounted to 2.9 million tonnes.
Throughout the past 35 years, the Party has constantly pursued its foreign policy in harmony with the changes of the world situation in the new era at each period. The Party has pursued a foreign affairs line of peace, independence, stability, friendship and co-operation with nations in the world regardless of the difference in political-social regime, on the basis of equality, mutual benefit, and peaceful co-existence.
“To promote cooperation for development as important basic, our Party has always enhanced nationalism engaged in high spirit working so as to lead the country out of the UN list of least developed country by 2020,” he said.
Mr Sombath also highlighted the great achievements of the 9th Party National Congress was held from 17 to 21 March in Vientiane Capital, attended by 576 delegates representing 191,780 Party members nationwide.
The congress has agreed many important issues of the Party and nation and elected a 61-member Central Committee for the 9th tenure, 11 members to the Political Bureau, the Secretariat of Party and members to Inspection Commission.
