Poverty Reduction Fund agree to further support target provinces

VIENTIANE,MARCH 22 .(KPL) - A meeting was held in Xiengkhouang province, last month agreed to further support poverty reduction programme-phase 2 to conduct in four northern provinces of Xiengkhouang, Luang Prabang, Houaphanh and Borikhamsay, out of 14 target provinces nationwide.
The main objective of Poverty Reduction Fund is to continue to promote in three districts of Xiengkhouang province including Nonghaed, Mork (new district) and Khoun and five districts in Houaphanh province and five districts in Luang Prabang province and two in Borikhamsay province.
The meeting was chaired by Mr. Khampein Sinouanthong, Deputy Governor of Xiengkhouang province and supervisor of Provincial Committee for Poverty Reduction Fund.
More than 40 participants attended the meeting come from Houaphanh, Borikhamsay, Luang Prabang and Xiengkhouang provinces.
This is a financial support under the PRF’s second phase come from the Lao Government US$10 million, World Bank US$25 million, AusAID US$12 million, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation US$10 million and Japan Social Development Fund US$2.6 million.
The fund will be spent on the development projects in 295 villages of 43 districts in 14 provinces nationwide.
