Protestors block national and super highways for hours

Hyderabad, March 22, 2011 (PPI): The members of Christian community blocked the national highway for about 12 hours on Tuesday putting the bodies of two persons at the road near City Gate hotel and Central Jail in Hyderabad. The Christian men, women and children also set the tyres on fire in front of City Gate and Pathan Colony intersection.
Two persons Younus Masih and Jamil Masih were killed in clash between two groups at Hur camp area of Hyderabad city.
The police and MQM leaders talked to the protestors and assured of justice after which they ended the protest.
Meanwhile, the flood-affected people staged sit-in at super highway blocking the traffic for hours to protest against non-provision of facilities. The hundreds of vehicles on both sides stuck up due to sit-in during which some people pelted stones on vehicles when motorway police tried to disperse the protestors.
It is said that the police opened fire to disperse the people in which a woman sustained injuries. The highway was opened for traffic after several hours.
