NH&MP finalizes traffic plan for uninterrupted flow of 16th Tour de Pakistan Cycle Race


Islamabad, March 16, 2011 (PPI): On the direction of IG NH&MP Dr Wasim Kauser, DIG NH&MP N-5 North Zone Abbas Hussain Malick said that Motorway Police N-5 North Zone will adopt all possible measures within the available resources to provide uninterrupted and free flow to the participant of 16th Tour de Pakistan International Cycle Race in the area of N-5 North Zone and Traffic Plan has been devised in this regard.

DIG Abbas Hussain Malik said that this race was started on 08th March 2011 from Karachi and will join N-5 North Zone on March 18, from Kala Shah Kaku and will leave from Hassan Abdal on 20th march 2011.

Keeping in view the importance of this event, directions have been circulated to all the SSPs of the entire zone. DIG said that the concerned SSPs will look after the traffic plan and traffic flow during the race hours in their respective areas. All the DSPs will remain present on G.T. road with the participants of race to provide them uninterrupted and free flow to avoid any untoward situation.

DIG Abbas Hussain Malick further informed that special duty officers and briefing officers will be deputed at all the toll plazas of N-5 North Zone, intersections, under construction area and at diversions to avoid any hindrance in traffic flow.

The DIG also informed that no further diversion or construction work will be allowed during race hours. Special control rooms have been established at SSP Offices and DIG Office to establish close liaison with local administration, cycle federation and local police.

For this purpose, Naeem Hayat Tiwana, DSP Motorway Police has deputed as focal person from NH&MP who will welcome the race and at Kala Shah Kaku and remain present on G.T. Road during the race to Hassan Abdal. DIG further added that doctor from Motorway police along with paramedical staff and ambulance will also provided to facilitate the participants in the area of N-5 North zone.

DIG further added that special duty officer will be deputed especially at choking points and in urban areas to avoid any hindrance. Special patrolling mobiles will be deputed in urban areas to control the traffic flow.

DIG also requested the road user and general public to help motorway police and other agencies to make this event a success and follow traffic rules and maintain road discipline .
