41st anniversary of Francophonie marked in Laos
VIENTIANE,MARCH15.(KPL)- The International Organisation Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with French Embassy and French language center will organize from 14 March a number of celebrations to mark the 41st anniversary of Francophonie in Laos, intended to promote the French language and cultural and social activities.
The statement on the celebration was made on Monday at a press conference in Vientiane, attended by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the French Embassy to Laos.
Events comprise a range of activities that begin this month and continue into April.
Dance, sport, educational and entertainment activities will take place in Vientiane, Luang Prabang, Champassak and Savannakhet provinces to promote both the use of the French language and socio-cultural activities between the two countries.
Most of the activities will take place in Vientiane and include a Lao student competition for an educational programme. Winners will have the chance to go on a trip to France.
A performance by Lao and French artists will take place at the Lao National Circus in Vientiane on March 25, in advance of a showcase event in Champassak province on March 27.
Laos and France have cooperated through Francophonie for the past 15 years in the areas of health research and education.
