Laos sends sympathy to China

VIENTIANE,MARCH 11.(KPL)- President Choummaly Saya-sone and Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong have sent messages of condolence to their Chinese counterparts, President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao, following the 5.8-magnitude earthquake that hit Yingjiang County in China’s southwestern Yunnan province on March 10.
President Choummaly and President Hu are also Secretaries General of the two countries’ ruling parties.
The messages read “I have learned of the earthquake that hit Yingjiang County on March 10, causing serious loss of life and property.”
“On behalf of the Party, government and people of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and on my own behalf, I would like to express my deepest sympathy to Your Excellencies, and through you to the Party, government and people of China, particularly those families affected by the earthquake.”
“Through the helpful efforts of the Party, government and people of China, I am confident that the damage and losses will be rebuilt, and that living conditions in the area will soon be restored to normal.”
