VIENTIANE,MAR 10.(KPL)- The Japanese government has decided to support two grant projects amounting to 576 million yens for the Improvement of Transportation Capacity of Public Bus in Vientiane Capital and the TV programmes of the Lao National Television.
The agreements on the projects were signed in Vientiane yesterday between Ambassador of Japan to Laos Junko Yokota and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Thongloun Sisoulith.
Through the public transport improvement project amounting to 500 million yens, the government of Japan will provide 42 public buses and maintenance equipment to the government of the Lao PDR for the purpose of improving the safety of public buses in Vientiane Capital.
This project is expected to contribute to the mitigation of traffic congestion in downtown areas of Vientiane Capital.
The project on improving TV programmes of the Lao National Television to enable the TV to attract the interest of more audiences and offer high quality broadcast costs 76 million yens or around USD 920,000, according to Ambassador Junko.
Though this project, the government of Japan will provide 484 cultural and education TV programmes to contribute to improvement of the basic education and education quality, according to Ms. Junko.
