POL: U.S. Commander Special Operations Command meets Pakistan Army General
Rawalpindi, Aug 22 PPI: Visiting United States Commander Special Operations Command, Admiral Eric T Olson Friday discussed with Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) of Pakistan, General Tariq Majid matters of mutual interest and bilateral cooperation.
General Majid spoke of regional security issues and emphasised need to evolve regional approach and coordinated holistic strategy suiting local dynamics to deal violent extremism and militancy in troubled border regions of Afghanistan andPakistan.
He felt due to contiguity of troubled areas, ethnic and social linkages events on either side of border have a spillage effect on other side. The coalition partners need to synchronise their efforts to achieve ultimate objective of peace andstability in the region.
Admiral Olson appreciated efforts by Pakistan to fight terrorism and expressed satisfaction over ongoing military to military cooperation especially in training and discussed way forward to further enhance these ties. He expressed condolence onrecent incidents of suicide attacks and loss of precious lives in Pakistan.
