Baquba explosion injures 2 persons

Baquba, Diyala, March 8 (NINA) –Two civilians were injured when a bomb, emplaced on the road leading towards the Baquba passengers terminal, exploded on Tuesday, security source reported to NINA.

“The explosion also resulted in material damage for many near by shops,” the source added, noting that “Security forces closed the area and forbid the citizens from approaching the site in precaution of more explosions.”

MPs demand the parliament to reduce speeches during sessions



Baghdad (NINA) – A number of MPs demanded the parliament on Tuesday session to reduce the speeches during sessions.

MP from the National Alliance, Abdul Hussein Abtan, told NINA “the MPs demanded the dedication of the sessions to issue laws and activate the parliament’s monitoring role.”

Professor assassinated in Mosul



Mosul, Nineveh (NINA) –Unidentified gunmen assassinated a professor from the Basic Education College at Mosul University on Tuesday.

“The gunmen opened fire from silenced pistols on Professor Amir Mohammed al-Mawla near his house, killing him immediately,’ police source reported to NINA.

Hakim, Sadr Trend delegation discuss finding solution for citizens’ problems

Baghdad (NINA) –The Head of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council, Ammar al-Hakim, discussed with the delegation of the Sadr Trend the importance of finding solutions for the citizens’ problems.

A statement by the SIIC cited on Tuesday “Hakim received the delegation at his office in Baghdad and discussed the important political updates and the demonstrators’ demands.”

“Both sides stressed the initiative of the Shaheed al-Mihrab Trend and the referendum launched by the Sadr trend which support the Iraqis interests by confronting corruption and presenting services in addition to finding jobs for the unemployed citizens,” the statement concluded. --------------------------------------

Talabani to meet Barzani to discuss political updates in KR



Erbil (NINA) –An official source form Kurdistan Region Presidency said that “The President, Jalal Talabani, will hold a meeting with the President of KR, Masoud Barzani, in Doukan resort to discuss political and security updates in the light of the demonstrations witnessed in Sulaymaniya province and other cities calling for KR government and parliament resignation.

The source stated to NINA “The meeting will determine the means of the participation of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and the Kurdistani Democratic Party in the next elections under Barzani’s call to conduct early elections.”

Sulaymaniya and other cities in KR witness demonstrations calling for political reforms and to provide the services.

Mortar shells hit American military headquarters in Baghdad



Baghdad (NINA) – An American military headquarters was hit on Monday evening, March 7, with two mortar shells, and a third hit a house in Baladiyat neighborhood, wounding two of the house's residents.

Police source told NINA that two mortar shells fail inside the former Security Department in Baladiyat neighborhood, being used a base by American force; without knowing the size of damages resulted by the attack.

He pointed out that a third shell hit a house in Baladiyat neighborhood causing damages to the house.
