Single Window Service implementation evaluated

VIENTIANE,MAR 07.(KPL)- The Public Administration and Civil Service Authority yesterday held here a meeting to estimate the implementation of the Single Window Service across the country.
The meeting was held at the International Cooperation and Training Centre (ICTC) on March 3-4.
Presided over by Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office Bounpheng Mounphosay, who also wears another hat as Head of the Public Administration and Civil Service Authority, the meeting was aimed at reviewing the implementation of the Single Window mechanism in line with the Prime Minister’s decree on Single Window Service No 68/PM dated on August 3, 2007.
The implementation of the Single Window Service by line ministries, local authorities were reported to the meeting as well as proposed measures for improvement of the Single Window Service.
The event saw the presence of representatives of ministries of Industry and Commerce, Finance, Public Works and Transport, Public Security, Planning and Investment, Foreign Affairs, Information and Culture and Energy and Mining and provinces of Phongsaly, Luang Namtha, Bokeo, Xiengkhouang, Luang Prabang, Khammouane, Savannakhet, Saravane, Sekong and Champassak.
ASEAN member states reached an agreement on ASEAN Single Window in December 2005 (ASW Agreement), and signed a protocol to establish and implement the initiative in December of the following year.
The ASW is designed to facilitate international trade and investment through expeditious clearance and release of cargoes by the Customs, and constitutes one of the mechanisms to realise the ASEAN Economic Community.
