Yemeni-Gulf joint technical committee meeting convened

RIYADH, March 01 (Saba) - The Yemeni-Gulf Joint Technical Committee held on Tuesday a meeting to determine Yemen's development
needs.
The committee meeting was held in the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) under the chairmanship of Deputy Minister of Planning
and International Cooperation Mutahar al-Abbasi and GCC Director General of International Economic Relations Abdullah al-Owaisheq.
The committee discussed the recommendations of the Yemen's Friends Group meeting held in New York on September 24, 2010 and the progress level of the underway projects funded
by GCC's states, regional funds and banks in addition to the possible mechanisms to accelerate the projects' implementation.
It also discussed the topics expected to be submitted to the joint ministerial meeting of Yemeni Foreign Minister and his GCC counterparts to be held on March 7 in Abdu
Dhabi. Moreover, the committee dealt with the achievement level of the pervious joint ministerial meeting's decisions held in Manama on June 22, 2010.
During two days, the committee will discuss the ongoing preparations for holding Yemen's Friends Group meeting scheduled to be convened on March 22 in the Saudi capital
Riyadh.
The fourth five-year plan for economic and social development and reducing poverty 2011-2015 will be touched upon in the committee's meetings, in the light of which Yemen's
needs will be decided.
The committee will review the terms of reference to study finance, implementation, supervision and evaluation's mechanisms of the current and future projects in the GCC's
states, to be applied to the projects in Yemen.
