Cabinet approves draft investment in private education
VIENTIANE,FEB 25.(KPL) - A monthly cabinet meeting has agreed in principle to approve two draft strategies on investment of private education and anti-corruption till 2020, two draft decrees on import and export and aid foundation aiming at promoting a long-term development of education and trade.
The cabinet meeting was held on 22-23 February under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong.
The draft strategy on promotion of private education from 2010 to 2020 is designed to promote investment in the private business sector in line with the Party and State’s guideline.
The national draft strategy on anti-corruption till 2020 determines discipline, method and procedure of anti-corruption as a legal tool for the Party committees and local authorities at each level to enforce and use.
The draft decree on import and export is designed to tighten up and facilitate goods import and export.
It will also ensure unanimous enforcement nationwide and reduce the working capital of goods for business entrepreneurs and give more opportunity for trade competitiveness.
The draft aid foundation is designed to promote and mobilise assistance for society and poverty reduction among ethnic Lao people, promote people’s rights for social benefit, national defence and development.
The meeting has also advised the Ministry of Education to work with the Ministry of Justice to improve the draft strategy and draft decree on promotion of private education based on the comments and feedback from National Assembly’s members before endorsement. Prime Minister Thongsing advised the cabinet to pay attention to the coming month’s focal works including public security to ensure the preparation for the upcoming 9th Party Congress, the promotion of cash crop cultivation in dry season, control of epidemic, monitoring climate change, and other coming major national events such as International Women’s Day.
