BESIKTAS FREEZE
Besiktas soccer team of Turkey were eliminated from UEFA Europa League. Played under heavy snowfall, Dynamo Kyiv of Ukraine defeated Besiktas 4-0 in the second leg game in the round of 32 at the UEFA Europa League in Kiev. Besiktas were also defeated 4-1 in the first game in Istanbul. Now, the target of Besiktas is to complete Super League on a good rank, and win Turkey Cup.

"WE WISH HE WOULD COME AS PRESIDENT" 
French President Nicolas Sarkozy will arrive in Ankara for a 6-hour jet meeting today. Elysee Palace convinced Ankara by saying, "G-20 visits are technical and rapid visits. The meeting with U.S. President Barack Obama took 2-3 hours too." Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, "we wish we could host Sarkozy as French President."

WE COULDN'T BE SUCCESSFUL LIKE TURKS
The world is talking about the successful evacuation operation of Turks from Libya. The photos taken by Turks, who lived hell in Libya, are displaying the scale of massacre. The newspapers in the U.S. and Britain wrote, "Shameful. Our evacuations are fiasco. The most impressing evacuation is Turks'." Foreign press also wrote about the great excitement of Turks who arrived in Marmaris by two ferryboats departing from Benghazi.

GREAT REPROACH PRIOR TO VISIT
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan criticized French President Nicolas Sarkozy for scheduling an only 5-6 hour visit to Turkey. "Turkish-French relations deserve better," Erdogan said.
Sarkozy will pay a working visit to the Turkish capital of Ankara today within the scope of France's holding the rotating presidency of G-20. In an interview with the French news agency AFP, Erdogan said his country would have liked to host the President of France, however, Sarkozy was coming to Turkey as the President of G-20.   

EVACUATION APPLAUSE TO TURKEY
British government's failure to evacuate its citizens from Libya has given rise to discussions in the country. The Times wrote that Turkey had carried out the most successful evacuation operation in Libya. The paper wrote how 3,000 people were transported from Benghazi to Turkey's Marmaris coastal town with ferries and how some Turks were brought back via Egypt.

DAVUTOGLU: WE WANT VISA EXEMPTION WITH EU
The European Union (EU) has refused to conduct visa exemption talks with Turkey due to differences of opinion within itself. The EU took a decision to begin visa dialogue with Turkey to facilitate easier visas. Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu rejected EU's decision and said that Turkey wanted visa exemption and not visa dialogue.

GOOD NEWS FOR SMALL AND MEDIUM SCALE BUSINESSES
Turkish Industry and Trade Minister Nihat Ergun said that his ministry would announce a new loan package, worth 3-4 billion Turkish liras (TL), for small and medium scale businesses in April. Our support for such businesses will continue, Ergun stressed.

EU MEMBERSHIP IS BENEFICIAL NEITHER FOR EU NOR TURKEY
When Mehmet Ali Birand from Kanal D TV channel asked, "Turkish people know you as a leader who does not love Turkey and not want the country within the EU. Is this right?", French President Nicolas Sarkozy said, "Turkey is a big country. It is a bridge between eastern and western worlds. It is still protecting that unique position. Full membership will be beneficial neither for EU nor for Turkey."

SARKOZY'S SHAME
French President Nicolas Sarkozy, who is famous with his anti-Turk stance, will begin his unwilling visit to capital Ankara today. Jet visit will be completed within five hours. Sarkozy, who does not want to be seen as Turkey-friendly in his own public, will use the title of "G-20 president" during his visit to Ankara.

7,000 TURKS FROM HELL TO HOMELAND
State Minister Zafer Caglayan said, "a total of 7,532 Turks were brought from Libya back to Turkey." National Security Council (MGK) which convened under the chairmanship of President Abdullah Gul also discussed Libya issue. Military transport planes will also be used for evacuation of Turks from Libya. Turkish workers, who returned from Benghazi to Turkey by ferryboats told about the terror: we kept guard with clubs, and fought off the protestors.

PAINFUL VISIT
French President Nicolas Sarkozy will arrive in Turkey on Friday as the President of G-20. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that they wanted to host Sarkozy as the President of France. Sarkozy said that he did not want his agenda in Turkey to be primarily on the European Union (EU). Sources said that Turkey will keep the issue of the EU on the agenda with Sarkozy on Friday.

ERDOGAN TO TRAVEL TO GERMANY
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will travel to Germany on February 27 to attend the inauguration of the CEBIT Informatics Fair. Erdogan will later proceed to Belgium on March 1 upon an invitation by the President of the EU Commission Jose Manuel Barroso.

"HEGIRA" MIRACLE IN THE MEDITERRANEAN 
Seven Turks, who left Libya in a rush on Tuesday due to the rising violence in the country, managed to come to Turkey with their boat named "Hicret" (Hegira) without using any transmitters or radars. As Turkey has successfully evacuated its 7,000 citizens from Libya, 7 "crazy Turks" made a miracle come true with their own resources. The Turks, who sent their last message to Radikal daily via internet on Tuesday, arrived in the Turkish coastal town of Datca with their boat yesterday evening after a stormy journey of more than 60 hours.

BE READY FOR AN OPERATION
Turkey is considering a "spot operation" to save the Turkish nationals trapped in the turmoil in Libya. The government told the Turkish Armed Forces to be ready for such an operation. Sources said that Turkey attached priority to bring back its citizens in a healthy way, adding that the state used all its resources to achieve such goal.

The world applauded the evacuation operation which was initiated for our 25,000 citizens in Libya. Also, 22 countries asked help from Turkey to rescue their own citizens from Libya. British, German, Italian and Dutch press excoriated their governments, while praising the struggle of Turkey against time.

Turkish Parliamentary Constitutional Commission adopted a motion on holding the general elections on June 12, 2011. The motion was accepted unanimously by members from all political parties represented in the Parliament.

ERDOGAN: I KNOW ABOUT VISIT TO HASDAL
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan replied to questions on latest developments during a TV program broadcast by ATV. Commenting on commanders' recent visit to suspects of Balyoz case at Hasdal military prison, Erdogan said he had been notified of such visit. Describing the visit as a "humanitarian" act, Erdogan also noted that he had informed General Staff Chief Isik Kosaner about his criticism regarding military's not attending the Republic Day reception.

ANKARA'S VISA REACTION TO EU
Interior ministers of the EU, who have approved the readmission agreement negotiated with Turkey, decided to launch a visa dialogue with the country. However, no clear goals were laid down in the decision regarding a visa exemption. Commenting on the development, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said, "Turkey cannot be subject to a different treatment".
