Several seditionists arrested in Tehran; 9 security forces injured
TEHRAN, Feb. 15 (MNA)-- On Monday afternoon 9 security forces were injured in shooting incidents during street protests in Tehran and several seditionists were detained, Iranian deputy police chief announced on Tuesday.
Ahmad-Reza Radan also said that one person was killed and several people were wounded in the clashes after some armed men opened fire on people.
He added that one inured person is in a critical condition in hospital.
The police official, who was elaborating on the incidents, said some people encouraged by the “leaders of sedition” and foreign countries including the Unites States, Israel, and Britain took to the streets on Monday to overshadow the high turnout of the people in marking the 32nd anniversary of the Islamic Revolution which fell on Friday, February 11.
Radan said dozens of rioters set garbage cans on fire, damaged public properties and smashed bus stations, but the security forces managed to disperse them and arrest a number of protesters.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he said that one mentally challenged person also wanted to commit suicide to attract attention, and the foreign media outlets tried to take advantage of this event.
