Iranian exhibit to honor Japanese Iranologist Seki
TEHRAN, Feb.15(MNA) -- The Japanese Iranologist Yoshifusa Seki will be honored during the exhibition’s closing ceremony of Persian manuscripts and rare books in Tehran.
“Seki will be honored for his study of Persian culture and literature during the ceremony on February 16,” the secretary of exhibit Mahmud Esmaeili mentioned in a press release.
Seki has conducted research on the album with drawings, miniatures, and calligraphy that were most likely collected for the Turkmen sultan Yaqub Aq Qoyunlu (1478-1490), which have been ascribed to an artist named Siyah Qalam (Black Pen) during the past twelve years.
The albums are kept in the library of the Topkapi Palace Museum.
The exhibit is currently underway at the venue of the Document Center of the Iran National Library and Archives, he mentioned.
“It is a great opportunity for organizations, offices and various centers to buy books,” he added.
Books on art and Iranology as well as copies printed from the original manuscripts are also on display at the exhibit.
The three-volume book “Script and Calligraphy” by Mohammad Vahid Musavi Jazayeri was unveiled as part of the exhibit and the author was honored during the opening ceremony.
An exhibition of Kufic script is also open on the sidelines.
