Change of system, next stage of Egypt revolution: Larijani
TEHRAN, Feb.15(MNA)-- Iranian Majlis speaker Ali Larijani urged the Egyptian people to continue their protests and demonstrations until they can realize their main goal which is the change of the system.
After 18 days of protests and demonstrations by millions of Egyptians who called for the departure of Hosni Mubarak and the establishment of a democratic government, on Friday Mubarak decided to step aside and transfer power to the Supreme Council of the Egyptian Armed Forces.
The Iranian nation and government have supported the uprising in Egypt and welcomed the downfall of Mubarak.
“The glory of Egypt depends on the establishment a democratic system and not submission to the United States,” Larijani said on Sunday.
“The Egyptian revolutionaries toppled the Hosni Mubarak regime in the first stage of the revolution, and the second stage is the regime change,” he explained.
The senior legislator went on to say that the United States is drawing up “suspicious” plans to hijack the revolution and that is why the revolutionary Egyptians should be vigilant and continue their struggle until they realize all their aspirations.
The Americans are seeking to impose new leaders on the Egyptian nation but the regional nations have become aware and will not be deceived by the false democracy which is promoted by the U.S. and the Zionist regime, he noted.
