Vietnamese products at Hong Kong fairs

Hongkong (VNA) - Eleven Vietnamese businesses joined almost 900 businesses from 29 countries and territories to display their products at four fairs in Hong Kong, China.

The fairs, namely the Hong Kong International Wine Fair and the Food Expo 2008, the Hong Kong International Medical and Health Care Fair 2008 and the International Conference and Exhibition of the Modernisation of the Chinese Medicine and Health Product 2008, were opened at the Hong Kong Conventionand Exhibition Centre on August 14.

Vietnam 's traditional products, including seafood, wine, cashew nuts, confectionery and aloe wood, attracted interests of a great number ofvisitors and won many foreign orders on the first opening day of the fairs.

Vietnam 's Deputy Consul General and chief trade representative of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in Hong Kong Vu Thinh Cuong said the fairs offer chances for Vietnam 's products to enter not only Hong Kong butalso other regional markets.

According to Cuong , Viet Nam 's imports from Hong Kong reached 1.3 billion USD in the first half of the year, a 28.9 percent year-on-year increase while its exports to the territory fetched 422 million USD, a year-on-year rise of 28.4 percent.-Enditem
