Maliki calls for economizing in electricity consumption

Baghdad (NINA) – Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki said, “We need for extra ordinary effort and extra ordinary decisions to deal with the electricity crisis and others as well.”
During a meeting with the Ministry of Electricity top officials on Tuesday, Feb. 8, Maliki said, “We are betting on the time table of constructing large power stations according to contracts signed with Siemens and General Electric, as well as with others, which we expect to put an end to the current electricity crisis.”
Maliki went on saying, “We have no more patience; we promised the citizens to reduce the electricity crisis by next summer. The citizens suffer from a complex called (Electricity Complex), citizens have the right to demonstrate, but I ask them to be patient until the contracts for electricity are executed.”
